How open can it be to talk openly about the female anatomy in the society or publicly without being given a stare or so. The conversation about any disease is usually heartbreaking when it is to be shared amongst our closed circles or loved ones but what if … we don’t have that circle? No trustable fellow to just listen and be there for us when we got diagnosed by the Killer C?

Malu lah to talk about this…

Malu apa nye? With Pink October, it is to commemorate and raise the awareness of the “things to know” about Breast Cancer. Of course, we don’t have to wait until October right, but by starting it now, it is never too late to gain knowledge and spread it out for awareness.

Break the taboo and let it out

Talking about breast health is not something to run away from!

Well, talking about breast health does not have to be uncomfortable. Yes, in the beginning, it may initially be awkward but being open about breast health encourages a positive outlook towards the topic and remove the stigmas surrounding women’s bodies and health overall. Most importantly keep in mind, this will change the outlook of cancer in Malaysia and indirectly empower the public to be more proactive in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Way to go!!!

We have lots of park a.k.a. taman rekreasi to just go have a walk, or while we duduk lepak coffee hopping, we can talk at least about something fruitful, and with these open conversations will eventually create a comfortable environment that supports health and wellness. And then, moving on to the topic of early detection, this will save lives! That’s one for a start.

Statistics don’t lie

Overall, there were 48,639 new cancer cases recorded in Malaysia last year – not to scare you but the World Health Organisation had already foreseen that the cancer incidence in Malaysia is expected to double by 2040. (Source)

Here’s a short video on the steps to perform self-examination!
