For those who have oily skin, the overly shiny face that inevitably comes with the warmer months can be a pain in the neck. In recent years, more and more people turn to blotting paper. But is it a good or a bad trend after all?
Some say a pack of tissue is handy enough to take care of facial ‘shine’, but using regular tissue paper will only end up having a large part of make-up wiped off your face. Also the cotton content in facial paper is more likely to hold more bacteria than blotting paper. Some of the oil blotting sheets not only remove oil without smudging makeup or leave behind unwanted residue, but also contain ingredients that refresh and revitalize your skin, ideal for busy people on the go.
What’s more, blotting paper is very easy to use. Just simply pull out a sheet from the dispense pack. Press the sheet firmly but gently on the shiny areas of your face and let it absorb the oil for a few seconds. Don’t rub your face with the blotting paper, just dab and blot. When you take the paper away, you will notice the instant difference on your face as the shine disappears, leaving a matt finish with make-up still in place. Oil blotting paper also comes in handy if you want to have a different face base. Last winter, everyone raved about liquid foundations and tinted moisturizers that leave your face with the perfect amount of dewiness. This summer, a matte face base is what you need, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up your liquid foundation for powder to achieve a matte base, all you need is oil blotting paper for oily skin. After applying your liquid foundation, press a blotting paper to your face, letting it soak up the emollients in the formula. This will leave you with the same amount of coverage you’re used to, but without the shine. Alternatively, if you don’t want to go completely matte, try dabbing just your forehead, chin, and nose.
