Should you apply oil before or after lotion?

Thinking whether to apply oil before or after lotion? As a rule, oils can penetrate lotions, but not vice versa. Lotions are better at penetrating skin as they are partly water-based, and can deliver ingredients that help maintain moisture. And oils are better at sealing in moisture for an add an extra layer of nourishment.

Why not give both a go? Simply add a few drops of body oil to your go-to body lotion to give your skin a hydration boost or apply your oil after applying moisturizer onto damp skin.

When is best to apply body lotion & oil?

The best time to apply body lotion and oil is right the second you step out of the shower. As soon as you get out of the shower, add a few drops of body oil to your favourite body lotion and apply to all over your body when your skin is still warm and damp for maximum absorption. Another option is to apply body lotion first, then lock it in with the oil. Do it within 5 minutes after shower to lock in your skin’s natural moisture.
