When it comes to blush, the question we often get is: Powder blushes and cream blushes, which one is better? In fact, they are equally good, just choose either one depending on the effect that you want.
Powder blush gives a more matte, finished look. And it’s rather easy to apply, just sweep a large brush in circles over the blush, then tap to remove excess. Slowly tap the brush along cheekbones, down nose, and across forehead and chin. You don’t have to worry about it setting too quickly like cream blushes do. However, the problem with highly pigmented powder blushes is that you could accidentally picking up too much product, and end up having clown cheeks. The trick is to use a light hand and a stippling brush which pick up less product, giving you more control over application.
So what about cream blushes? On the contrary, the sheerer cream blush is easier to build up, and you can have more control on how intense you want the colour to be. Cream blush is the best to create a dewy, outdoorsy flush. It also delivers a moisturising effect, so people with dry and mature skin tend to prefer cream blushes. Cream blush usually set quickly, so it has to be applied swiftly, as once the cream blush is set, it can be difficult to remove with tissue paper alone.
If you want a long-lasting rouge on your cheeks, you can use both cream and powder blushes. Apply a cream blush as a base first, and then a powder blush in a similar colour on top of it. This way, the colour won’t budge, even the weather gets warmer, you don’t need to worry about about the heat melting your face.
