Acknowledge the Present

Be gentle with yourself and others as it is normal to experience distress and frustration over the past months. However, there’s no need to rush on doing everything. It is okay not always being your best self. Allow yourself to heal by feeling your feelings. And stop fighting what we cannot control.

Stay connected with family and friends

Don’t forget to stay connected with your family and friends socially. Connecting with people who love you can open up your mind, share your feelings and get support from them. Try to explore some of the webchat platforms like FaceTime or Zoom date, or just send each other pictures of your day via WhatsApp or Line. It could make you feel supportive and encouraging.

Limit your time watching news

The media we consume daily can be very helpful, but it can be also very stressful to watch. It may have an impact on our thinking, behavior, and emotions. It is important to strike a balance between being informative and not becoming overwhelmed. Try to limit your time watching news, such as 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes after dinner, to catch the major headlines in the morning and evenings to reduce your stress from the media.

Serve and help others

“The root of happiness is altruism – the wish to be of service to others.” Kindness can be very meaningful not only to others, but to yourself. Sewing face masks to donate to local organizations, volunteering at a food bank or simply sharing good positive news on social media can brighten someone and your day.
