Christmas make-up is a great way to get in the holiday spirit, and there’s nothing more Christmassy than red and snowy white color. Holiday season also offers the perfect opportunity to wear glitter on your face. Let’s see how to incorporate all the key elements of the season without looking too dramatic or overdone on your party makeup.

First of all, you need to neutralize the redness on skin with a green primer. Use one all over your face if you have widespread redness, or dab it just where you need it to give an even-tone base for a flawless foundation application. After that, apply foundation with sunscreen. Use a beauty blender for spreading the product easier and ultimately a smooth looking effect. To create a flawless complexion, don’t forget to banish your dark circles and dark spots with a concealer.

Rosy cheeks are the perfect beauty look for Christmas. So after the foundation is done, use a light shimmery blush and apply it in a large oval shape, starting one inch from the nose and move the brush towards your ear. Then make a smiling face and let your cheeks pop out. The “apple” of your cheek is where the second layer of blush should sit. Choose a fuchsia colored blush, apply it in small circular motions, and dip in for an extra coat of bright blush if needed. It’s best to apply with a light hand though.

Contour and highlight can make your facial features stand out. One of the easy ways is to lightly apply matte ash brown shadow with a minimal amount of red pigment to eyelid, sides of nose, under lip, chin and jaw line.

Then you can move on to eye makeup. Put on the first layer of eye shadow in vintage red with a blending brush. Use a shimmery ash brown eye shadow as a second layer. Focus on the edges and make sure the color transit softly. Choose a light brown colored eyeliner to soften up the eye makeup. If you want some sparkle but don’t want it to look too heavy, go for a single glitter stripe right above a cat-eye line. It’s subtle, yet noticeable enough to actually make an impact. You can even apply some sparkle eye shadow to enhance a dramatic effect.

Matte or glossy, deep or bright, a bolt of red lipstick can bring a Christmassy touch to your look instantly. You can use red lip gloss that offers a shimmery and long lasting effect. So even if you’re out for party, the glaze of color stays and save the hassle of re-applying it.
