Every year, as Chinese New Year celebration excitement draws near, one cannot miss out the most anticipated Watsons annual short film.
We are so encouraged that everywhere we looked almost everyone could sing the chorus of ‘ban leng leng, zhap dou zheng’. Its catchy tune and easy to follow rhythm will be forever etched into our minds. This time around, let us look at some interesting insider info that you may not know about the celebrity casts featured in this year’s #HappyBeautifulYear film.
Did You Know?
- All the casts name is named after Malaysian’s King of Fruits – Durian.
- Amber Chia returns with another role from previous years. Her debut as a poultry seller and then to an elder sister “Dai Ga Jie” (previous character) and now as a Talent Manager to the LiuLian sisters makes her uniquely a Watsons persona.
- Summer Grace Sisters and Ang Chee Chiang are old friends and have worked together in many projects – and now they have joined forces in this film!
- Who could not forget So I’m Jenn’s role in her previous film with Watsons as Auntie Siow to get you to do ‘boob boob check’. Here, she plays a daughter of a former songstress.
- They are called as the Watsons Ambassadors for a reason, and yes you may spot both Ayda Jebat and Jinnyboy cameo roles in this film dancing! Don’t miss that part!
- If you watched closely the “Live Stream Concert” scene was taken in one continuous shot. WOW!
- Some notable influencers were also featured as cameos in this film. The leng zhai Daniel Fong and the beautiful Haara MK, Miss Intercontinental Malaysia.
- The melodious songs in the short film was composed by one of the casts and sang by our casts!
- This film was shot in only one location! It was at the amazing Gamuda Gardens where we took over 6 houses to shoot the different scenes.
